for Students with Significant Cognitive Disabilities

Summary:

This page gives information about the workshop Pathways for Progress: Reading and Language Arts Access Points for Students with Significant Cognitive Disabilities.

Workshop Description
This is a five and one-half hour workshop with three sessions designed to help educators who serve students with significant cognitive disabilities learn about the revised Reading and Language Arts Sunshine State Standards and Access Points adopted by the State Board of Education in January 2007.

The workshop materials may be used for professional development about the new access points. Workshop sessions enable participants to examine the content and organization of the revised standards and access points, make connections with the access points and their current curriculum, and learn a systematic process for determining the appropriate level of complexity of the access points for individual students.

Target Audience: The target audience for the workshop is educators who serve students with significant cognitive disabilities.

Technical Assistance: Staff from the Accommodations and Modifications for Students with Disabilities Project at FSU are available to provide technical assistance regarding dissemination and implementation of the workshop to school districts, Florida Diagnostic and Learning Resources System Associate Centers, and other groups.
