The College Board SAT (R) program consists of the SAT I: Reasoning Test, and SAT II: Subject Tests.

SAT I measures verbal and mathematical reasoning abilities primarily in multiple choice questions. Beginning in 2005, students will also be required to write an essay. The SAT II: Subject Tests measure knowledge and application of particular subjects.

Many colleges require or recommend one or more of these tests for admission or placement purposes.
