Projects & Goals Department of Children and Families Due to a continual turnover problem among entry-level Department of Children and Families staff, the Florida Legislature has appropriate funds to implement a Competency-Based Pay Plan. Each Public Assistance Specialist will be required to pass, in at least three attempts, a written assessment of knowledge needed for the position. The employee will be given the opportunity to participate in training prior to taking the assessment the first time. Should the employee not obtain a passing score on the first attempt, training will be required before any future attempts are allowed. There will also be a performance-based component. At this time discussion is being held to determine the specifications for this component. Future Visions & Partners Based on the findings of problem analysis, any of a number of measures may be suggested for implementation. Recommendations may vary from use of innovative training strategies and state-of-the-art technologies to non-instructional types of interventions. CPT is capable of implementing a wide variety of possible strategies because of its personnel, procedural and production resources. The Center is staffed by qualified and experienced professionals who represent a broad range of subject matter expertise. CPT personnel provide the Center with the diversified skillset necessary to perform all the tasks that may be prescribed by a problem analysis: staff and professional development, curriculum development, public awareness and marketing, evaluation and quality improvement, and media design and production. Additional qualified consultants and support staff are acquired if needed. | |||||||||
