Workshop Description This is a three-hour workshop with two sessions designed to help educators who serve students with significant cognitive disabilities learn about the revised Science Sunshine State Standards and Access Points adopted by the State Board of Education in February 2008. The workshop materials may be used for professional development about the revised science access points. Workshop sessions enable participants to examine the content and organization of the revised standards and access points and learn a systematic process for determining the appropriate level of complexity of the access points for instructing individual students. Target Audience: The target audience for the workshop is educators who serve students with significant cognitive disabilities. Technical Assistance: Staff from the Accommodations and Modifications for Students with Disabilities Project at FSU are available to provide technical assistance regarding dissemination and implementation of the workshop to school districts, Florida Diagnostic and Learning Resources System Associate Centers, and other groups. Please contact Dr. Marty Beech at LSI/FSU (phone: 850-921-0687; email: mbeech@lsi.fsu.edu). For the workshop materials, go to the Pathways for Progress–Science Trainer Resources page. |
